According to the Times, former Arsenal midfielder Thomas will ask for conditional bail so that he can continue playing in Villarreal.
On July 4, the Crown Prosecutor's Office issued an announcement formally accusing former Arsenal midfielder Thomas of five counts of rape and one count of sexual assault. He will appear in Westminster District Court on August 5.
Meanwhile, Thomas is about to sign a two-year contract with La Liga team Villarreal, who has completed a physical examination and the midfielder left Arsenal freely this summer. The Times said that any charges must be heard in criminal court, so the conditions for bail will be decided by the magistrate and Thomas' attorney is expected to require the court to set bail conditions so that he can continue playing in Spain.
