Dortmund goalkeeper Kober recently accepted an interview with German media Biography. In it, he talked about the reason why he decided not to transfer this summer. He also talked about his injury-ridden battle last season and his expectations for the Club World Cup.

Bodigo Biography reported on May 27 that after weeks of negotiations with Chelsea, Kober made a decision about his future. The players have notified Dortmund sports director Kyle that the transfer topic this summer is no longer under his consideration, and the Swiss goal will continue to guard Dortmund's goal next season.

In an interview with Bistro, he talked about his motivation for making this decision: "Everyone knows that I feel very comfortable in Dortmund. I love the fans, the stadium, the club and the atmosphere here. Everyone knows this and can see this when I stand on the stadium. I am very grateful for it."

When asked if he had given up his dream of playing in the Premier League, Kober responded: "I don't remember when I said that it was my dream."

Since joining in 2021, Kober has long become one of the most representative players in Dortmund: he has played 164 official games for the Yellow and Black Legion, including 52 of which were clean sheets. In recent years, he has been regarded as the best goalkeeper in the Bundesliga.

In the past season, Dortmund successfully qualified for the Champions League at the last moment, and Kober even persisted in playing in many games with injuries during this period. He confirmed the report: "It's true. I had a torn ankle ligament and we fixed the injury with a bandage; in addition, I also had tonsillitis and a fever - it was treated with antibiotics."

In the following summer, Kober hoped not to be disturbed by transfer rumors and focused on training. His long-term goal is to play in the 2026 World Cup with Switzerland, and before that, he hopes to compete for a good result with Dortmund in the US Club World Cup.

Kober said: "Of course, there are really many games every season, which is really hard for the body. But the Club World Cup is a brand new experience and I am looking forward to playing against teams from other intercontinental teams. We go anywhere to win - this has to be our goal."

Dotter's opponents in the Club World Cup group stage are Frumenense, Ulsan HD and Mamelodi Sunset.

What is certain is that if Kober continues to perform well, Dortmund will need to deal with the transfer offensive against him again in the summer of 2026 at the latest. Kober's contract ends in the summer of 2028, and the report said that the transfer fee required to sign him has reached 60 million euros.
