In an exclusive interview with The Athletic, Bayern forward Kane talked about Oktoberfest and some of his experiences at Bayern. He said that Germans actually have a great sense of humor.
After moving to Munich two years ago, the Kanes added a few new items to their wardrobe: traditional leather trousers (leather shorts commonly worn by men in southern Germany) and several kaftans (a traditional dress consisting of a blouse, corset, skirt and apron that originated in the German-speaking Alps).
Kane said of the leather pants he wore to his first Oktoberfest in 2023: "They're actually very comfortable. When I first saw them, I thought they were going to be hard to wear, but they're actually a lot more comfortable than they look. That's a big thing here." Traditionally, I got one through the club, but my wife already has several German dresses and she's totally into it."
In the 4th round of the Bundesliga, Kane scored a hat-trick against Hoffenheim, helping the team win 4-1. This is his ninth three-goal haul in the Bundesliga and his second this season. The defending champion remains unbeaten this season, with Kane contributing 11 goals and 3 assists in the league.
In England, Kane scored his 75th and 76th international goals against Latvia on Tuesday, making Tuchel's team the first in Europe to qualify for next summer's World Cup.
Kane described leaving Tottenham and London - a club and city where he has lived for a long time - as "a huge change from a professional and personal perspective", but he has no regrets about it. On the same day, Tottenham manager Frank said he would "very much welcome" the England captain back to north London. But Kane has made it clear that he is happy in Munich and his new clothes are not going away for a while.
When talking about the Munich Oktoberfest, Kane said: "This is a big event. You can feel the lively atmosphere of the whole city. There are a lot of people and a lot of beer. I liked my first experience very much, but I didn't drink at the time. Maybe I will try that way one year in the future."
Before arriving in Munich, Kane had no idea what it would be like to live in Germany. He revealed: "Until you experience it for yourself, it's hard to really judge what it will be like. I think there was a perception that Germans might be a bit serious and cold, but they actually have a great sense of humor, are very down-to-earth, love their work, and are very humble."
However, he knows what a big club Bayern Munich is. Kane said this: "Everyone here supports Bayern Munich, everyone is talking about football and loves football. Everyone will praise me when I score. It is like a big family here."
