According to the Spanish media "As", Real Madrid plans to introduce A Fee (Alvaro Fernandez) after the Club World Cup, but hopes to cut its 50 million euro termination clause, while Benfica has no intention of making concessions easily.
Currently, both A and Real Madrid participate in the Club World Cup in the United States, and the players are still playing for Benfica.
Western media said that although most of the negotiations have been conducted, the transfer of A fee has not been finalized, and the crux of the termination fee is the 50 million euros termination fee clause. Real Madrid has been working hard and is still trying to cut the amount, but Benfica has no intention of making concessions easily.
According to previous reports, there is still a gap of 8 million euros between the two sides. Real Madrid offers 40 million euros, while Benfica is considering accepting 48 million euros. At that time, the deal was not completed. Therefore, on June 10, A Fei registered as a Benfica player to participate in the Club World Cup. As a result of the failure to reach a consensus, the transaction was not finalized and the operation stagnated.
The personal terms of players are not a problem, the crux of the problem lies in the total amount. Real Madrid has tried for a long time and has repeatedly knocked on Benfica's door. But so far, the response has been consistent.
Benfica did not close the door to Real Madrid, but there are still huge differences that need to be bridged. Because they know that they have the initiative: Real Madrid needs a left-back, and their first choice is A fee and they are willing to pay. Furthermore, another factor complicates the negotiations: not all agreed totals will flow into Benfica's vault.
Manchester United has a 18 million euro buyback clause, and Real Madrid has tried to use this approach. In order to use Manchester United as a transit team to reduce transaction costs. Although this plan has been excluded, another existing clause remains. When Manchester United agreed to transfer A fee to Benfica for EUR 6 million, they retained 20% of the future transfer sharing rights, provided that the transfer fee exceeds 5 million pounds.
In such operations, this percentage applies to the profits earned. In short: If the final agreement is 50 million euros, 20% will be calculated based on 44 million euros (Note: 50 million-6 million = 44 million). Nearly 9 million euros will flow to Manchester United.
There are also conveniences for installment payments allowed under the termination fee clause. If it is executed according to the termination fee clause, there is no choice but to pay it in one lump sum, that is, 50 million euros. This is exactly what Real Madrid hopes to avoid so that they can share the transfer fee to multiple payment periods, as when they introduced Wyson and Mastantono (both paid in three periods). At the same time, you can also enjoy more preferential tax treatment. This latter factor even prompted Real Madrid to pay a slightly higher amount than the termination fee in individual cases.
Real Madrid is expected to welcome the A-fee franchise in July. But before this, Benfica needs to be persuaded, and there are still a lot of details to be finalized.
