Clippers head coach Tyron Lu was a guest on the "Club Shay Shay" program and was asked if he had ever thought that Alexander would become as strong as he is now.
"No, I couldn't imagine. But we have been talking about this deal all the time. The general manager of 30 teams in the league, and even I think so. Even if I do it again, I would still choose the deal at that time.
"George was the top three candidates for MVP that year, and it was a combination of offense and defense, just like a combination of Jordan and Pippen. Alexander was a good young player at the time, but you would never have thought he would have achieved what he is today. This is also the best thing for Alexander, because if he stayed in the Clippers, he might not have that much ball right, and he could only grow like this when he went to his own team.
"Who wouldn't use a rookie to trade a player like George? Let George and Kat partner. If someone said he wouldn't be lying, I didn't need to consider this decision at all," Lu said.
