Recently, ESPN salary expert Bobby Marks and draft expert Jeremy Woo jointly wrote an article about the Lakers' salary and draft picks. The details are as follows:
After obtaining a superstar with a trade, will the Lakers still have enough chips to make another major operation?
Even if James and Doncic's total salary in the new season is close to $100 million, the Lakers still have more than $60 million in expiration contracts to be used for transactions. But their first-round picks are severely lacking: they owe the Jazz a first-round pick protected by the first four picks in 2027, and also owe the Mavericks an unprotected first-round pick in 2029, and the only tradable first-round pick is in 2031 or 2032. They also have 5 first round swap rights available (2026, 2028, 2030, 2031 and 2032), but only one second round pick is available for trading.
