The Lakers defeated the Jazz 108-106 in an away game to usher in their fourth consecutive victory. After the game, Lakers team reporter Buha talked about Smart's playing time on his podcast.
Buha said: "Redick made some interesting decisions. He used Kleber instead of Hayes in the closing stage of the game. I think it should be based on the performance of the two players, but he used Gabe Vincent in the closing stage instead of Smart and Rui Hachimura. Some kind of preference, I don't understand what happened to Smart's playing time. He only played 17 minutes. I don't quite understand the reason. Vincent did have some good defensive periods, but he should not be used in the closing stage. He did hit a three-pointer at the end, but then made a mistake in the next round. I just don't understand this decision."
In this campaign, Smart played 17 minutes and 27 seconds, made 2 of 6 three-pointers, and scored 6 points and 1 block.
