Barcelona women's football team used VAR technology for the first time in the La Liga Women's League, but the long video replay and game interruptions frustrated players, coaches and fans.
After the match, in an interview with World Sports in the mixed zone, Caroline Graham Hansen and Leia Aleksandry shared their views on this new technology.
Norwegian international Hansen said: "We were told that this is also a new experience for the referees, and they need to review every goal. The referees don't have much time to practice, and that's what we know now. We need to be patient and hope that the process will improve and speed up in the next game. Ultimately, this tool is to help the game be more fair."
And Aleksandry, who just finished his debut, believes: "Indeed, the whole process seems a bit long from the field. But we have to focus on it." For the game itself, try to keep the pace of the game as much as possible, because these pauses are not good for the game."
Head coach Pere Roma emphasized: "The ultimate goal is to bring more impartiality to this sport full of details and slight differences, which is a great tool. There will definitely be a better way to use it because there are many interruptions in the second half. I regret the fans and players, which also affects the rhythm of the game. We will try to learn positive lessons from it and hope to speed up the process so that it will be beneficial to everyone."
