Tebas: UEFA and Villarreal fans support hosting the game overseas, but there are still protests

La Liga Chairman Tebas updated social media, talked about the La Liga match between Villarreal and Barcelona to be held in Miami, and expressed his support.

Tebas wrote: "UEFA has approved the game in Miami, and Villarreal's fans association also supports it, but the European Union Sports Commissioner and some self-proclaimed 'Voice of Fans' have protested again. What's interesting is that they claim to represent everyone...but only those who really want the game to take place."

Tebas's words are to support Villarreal. The match against Barcelona was held in Miami. Previously, the president of the Villarreal Fans Association had written to the club president on September 25, calling the game "an opportunity to help enhance the visibility, expansion and consolidation of the Villarreal Club, its sponsors, cities, fans and fans associations on the international stage, especially in a country of high strategic value like the United States."

On Monday, the UEFA Executive Committee announced that it would allow the game to be held in Miami, which was led and promoted by La Liga. The game belongs to the 17th round of La Liga and will be played at the Hard Rock Stadium in Miami on December 20. Barcelona is expected to receive revenue of 5 million to 6 million euros.

Bringing La Liga games to Miami has always been Tebas's long-term wish. He has tried to arrange Girona vs. Barcelona and last season's Barcelona vs. Atletico Madrid to be held in the United States, but they failed. And now, the third time is finally about to succeed.

However, this approach has also been criticized. Real Madrid objected to the game being played in Miami, arguing that it would "undermine the fairness of the game" because Barcelona was not actually playing as a visiting team. The Spanish players' union also expressed opposition.
