According to reporter Veronica Brunati, the introduction of DePaul is a part of Miami International's strategy to retain Messi.
Veronica Brunati revealed that the negotiations between Miami International and De Paul began a week ago, and the player's agent was discussing transfers with Atletico Madrid in Spain.
Miami International hopes to build a competitive team before the World Cup to convince Messi to stay in the team, and introducing DePaul is part of the strategy.
Atletico Madrid asked De Paul for 15 million euros, but Miami International believes that since De Paul's contract is only one year away, the transfer price may drop to 12 million to 13 million euros.
DePaul stays in touch with Messi, and if DePaul joins the team, it will be a major reinforcement for Miami International.
