According to the "Milan Sports" report, Roma is planning to form a team B, hoping to participate in the Serie C League within two years.
Currently, among the Serie A clubs, the B teams include Juventus, Atlanta, Milan and Inter Milan. Among them, Milan B team Milan's future team has been relegated to the Italian League, and the other three B teams are participating in the Serie C League. Establishing a B team can give youth training players the opportunity to participate in professional league training, which is conducive to the growth of young players.
"Milan Sports" revealed that the Rome club is also considering forming a B team, and the boss Friedkin expressed support for this. In recent months, this has changed from a simple idea to a specific project. Roma's plan is to form the B team and participate in the Serie C League within two years, and two years later (2027) is also the 100th anniversary of the establishment of the Rome Club.
It is worth mentioning that the Roma youth team invited Federico Guidi to be the head coach this week. Federico Guidi coached the Roma youth team from 2022 to 2024. He left Roma last summer to coach the Milan youth team, but due to no hope of being promoted to the head coach of the Milan B team, Federico Guidi chose to leave Milan and return to Roma. "Sports of Milan" pointed out that this is because the Rome club's project to form a B team convinced him to return, and the Rome B team may be coached by Federico Guidi in the future.
In order to form Team B, the initial start-up capital invested by the Rome club will reach 15 million to 20 million euros, including the introduction of players, coaches, staff, and registration fees. Once Team B is successfully formed, it will require a continuous investment of about 3 million euros per season in the future.
Team B needs to wait until a team in the Serie C League fails to register before registering for Serie C. However, in recent years, many Serie C teams have encountered financial difficulties and are facing bankruptcy, so Roma is not worried about the registration of the future B team.
"Milan Sports" said that the biggest obstacle at present is to choose a home court for Roma B. Currently, only the Olympic Stadium in Rome has met the Serie C League hosting requirements, but as the home stadium shared by Rome and Lazio, it is obviously impossible for the Olympic Stadium to host the Rome B team game. The two possible home options for Roma B are: the Domenico Francioni Stadium in Latina near Rome, or the Anco Marzio Stadium in Ostia, which is the Yiding Club. Rome legend De Rossi acquired the club a few months ago and will complete the modernization of the home next year.
