According to "Marca" reports, Qatari investment company JTA International is close to acquiring Getafe Club.
JTA International Investment Holding, a global investment company headquartered in Qatar, under the leadership of its president Dr. Amir Ali Salimi, is in advanced negotiations with Getafe Chairman Angel Torres, and they plan to acquire the Madrid-based club.
After months of negotiations, the two sides are close to reaching an agreement. The deal will bring important financial support to Getafe, including naming rights to the new stadium (expected to be completed within two years), main sponsorship of the team's jerseys, and Angel Torres will continue to serve as club president at the explicit request of JTA management.
JTA International CEO Dr. Amir Ali Salimi believes that Torres is an "extremely valuable leader" and his retention is "vital to maintaining the club's identity and fan base."
Dr. Salimi has loved football since he was a child and played football when he was young. He sees the potential acquisition as "a way to promote the development and stability of Spanish football, while strengthening the links between sport, business and community".
The acquisition of Getafe is part of JTA International's broader strategic expansion plan. The company has grown from a regional investment firm to a global investor active in more than 50 countries around the world. JTA International operates in key sectors including energy, civil infrastructure, innovation, tourism, transportation, healthcare, agriculture and food security.
Recently, JTA International signed a cooperation agreement worth 2 billion euros with the Vietnamese Vingroup group, involving the two companies VinFast and VinPearl, and signed a 4.5 billion euro agreement to develop the largest sports complex project in East Asia. JTA International has also invested in some well-known projects in the fields of real estate, energy, financial technology and tourism.
If a deal is finalized, it would be JTA International's first major investment in European football, giving the company exposure in one of the most prestigious leagues in the world. La Liga is renowned for its global reach and competitive excellence, which were key factors in JTA International's decision to acquire clubs in Spain. After a thorough evaluation by experts familiar with Spanish football, Getafe was selected as the ideal candidate due to its financial stability, solid management and respected sporting program.
