31-year-old Dell joined Monaco this summer and was recently interviewed by French media "Team News". Dell said that in England, players' accents usually expose their hometown areas. You have no accent. Why?

Dell: "Yes, it's a bit strange, but many people say that. This is because I grew up in Portugal (7-20). The same goes for my brothers and sisters. We all have a little bit of an ‘international’." Does this "international" explain your career trajectory to some extent? Training in Portugal sports and transferring from Bayern to Monaco is not common for an English player.

Dell: "Let me say that, spending my childhood in Lisbon has given me something different. Learning a new language seems to be of great value to me. I am a person who can adapt well in other countries. I hope to find the status in Monaco as soon as possible. My parents have recently lived in Paris, so I have been to France frequently in the past few years. I hope next time we do interviews, I will use French. (laughs)"

Is it a surprise to have Monaco the next stop in my career?

Dell: "Do you know that in the football world, it is impossible for you to predict where you will be in half a year. This is also one of the interesting things about this job. I am very happy about my experience, the various cultures I have experienced, and the different football styles I have seen. These have enriched me. For example, I like Germany very much."

What did you remember in this year and a half in Munich?

Dell: "It left many wonderful memories. The deepest thing is of course winning the Bundesliga title there. When I was playing there, I realized in particular that the most wonderful part of the job was the process, building something together and achieving our goals. I learned a lot there."

What was your impression of this place before signing with Monaco?

Dell: "Monaco is one of the kind of clubs where people wear their jerseys all over the world and you can recognize them at a glance. Monaco has always had many excellent players, so I won't list them one by one because the roster is quite long. The team has also achieved many successes."

Becoming a member of Monaco, what goals have you set for yourself?

Dell: "The team just had a great season, and my idea was to continue to grow on this basis. I came here with the will to help the team improve. The team is quite young, and to be honest, I am not used to being one of the older members! I think Pogba may be the only one older than me. There are talented players here, and it is a motivation and motivation to be in such a locker room. I really hope to help them grow. This is the responsibility that makes me enjoy it."

The responsibility of being a "big brother"?

Dell: "(laughs) No! To be more precise, it is to set an example. It is not based on words, but on daily practical actions, how I take care of myself like athletes and how I train."

Last season, Monaco often suffered losses due to personal mistakes from players. Are you here to help eliminate this kind of thing?

Dell: "No, don't expect me to be a savior. I will make mistakes. Everyone will make mistakes. But maybe I can help the team digest mistakes better. If one thing I have learned in my career is how to quickly adjust and regain after making mistakes. It is important to keep moving forward at that moment. Management wants to inject some experience, which makes me excited, and this is what I said in my discussion with them: In my next challenge, I want to participate in building something."

General Manager Thiago Sculo mentioned that you have the ability to organize the offense from the backcourt. Is this one of the reasons why you were introduced?

Dell: "I think he is referring to the fact that when we face teams that are defending low, the defensive players must play in the possession stage. At Bayern, I often face those opponents who are waiting for us in a low position, which forces you to find a way. I like to go deep into the opponent's half and know how to actively counter-attack immediately and quickly win back the ball after conceding the ball."

You are also a good player. At Bayern, you often face one-on-one, and sometimes the position is still very high. Do you like to take risks like this?

Dell: "Yes, I like it very much. Today's football trend is becoming more and more oriented towards this. It's very interesting. You need to know how to predict. Being able to react quickly is very critical at the moment."
