On Tuesday local time, the International Court of Arbitration for Arbitration for Sports (CAS) confirmed that it had received appeals from Crystal Palace Football Club against UEFA, Nottingham Forest and Lyon, and filed a request to re-approve them for the new UEFA Cup.
said in a media notice released by CAS that the International Court of Arbitration for Sport confirmed Crystal Palace’s appeal to UEFA, Nottingham Forest and Lyon, which involved UEFA’s decision to deprive Crystal Palace of the 25/26 UEFA Cup for alleging that it violates the multi-club ownership regulations.
Crystal Palace's appeal was filed on July 21, 2025, aiming to revoke the decision made by UEFA club financial control agency on July 11, 2025: The decision determines that Crystal Palace and Lyon are not in compliance with the relevant regulations on multi-club ownership, and relegates Crystal Palace to the 25/26 European Cup.
In addition to revoking the decision, Crystal Palace also requested to re-approve the UEFA Cup in the 25/26 season and to revoke Nottingham Forest's qualification. As an alternative, Crystal Palace requested to be re-approved for the UEFA Europa League in the 25/26 season and to revoke Lyon's qualification for participation.
Under the appeal process of the Court of Sport Arbitration, the parties concerned are currently exchanging written statements in accordance with the arbitration rules. After this procedure is completed, a hearing will be scheduled. CAS hearings are not open to the public unless the court and all relevant parties agree.
The case will be subject to rapid procedures and a legally effective ruling will be made on or before 11 August 2025 (without the reason for the ruling).
