Buffon attended the launch of the shortlist of 100 people for the Golden Boy Award and accepted an interview with the media.
As the leader of the Italian national team, Buffon first talked about the World Cup qualifiers in early June. "People are full of expectations and curiosity about this. It is certain that the only goal we consider in the next few months is to advance to the World Cup, without if or but. The national team players play too many games? These will bring consumption mentally and physically, but as champions, it means we must have the right attitude and motivation to overcome these difficulties."
The media then asked Buffon about the current situation of Juventus clubs. Views, Buffon replied: "You asked the wrong person. Chiellini has always been here. I think no one knows this better than him. You must have an in-depth understanding of Juventus from the inside, rather than constantly comparing it with Juventus in the past 20 years. I don't know what happened to Juventus now, I don't know what is doing well and what are not doing well, and I don't know what suggestions should be made. I am just a bystander now."
Juventus finally won fourth place in Serie A this season and qualified for the Champions League next season. Buffon continued: "But I saw Juventus achieve the team's lowest goal this season, although it seems not easy at times. And besides the game that lost to Parma, I saw that this team has at least a common belief in facing challenges."
Conte led Naples to win the Serie A championship this season, but recently there have been many reports that Juventus is preparing to ask Conte to coach. Buffon said: "Conte returns to Juventus? Unlike many of you, I don't really believe he will leave Naples now and in the past. Conte has intelligence and animal intuition, and he will immediately judge whether his place can provide him with opportunities to win and compete in the future. And Conte has not made any statement on this yet, which also confirms my idea. He is an excellent coach and I think his coaching history proves that he is the perfect candidate for some current teams."
